Treatments

Just wanted to post some meds and things I have done to help my Intercostal Neuralgia and Nerve pain

Just thought I would make a quick post for you guys on different meds and things I take or do for my Intercoastal Neuralgia(IN). I use to take Gabapentin, now I take Gralise which is the same thing just slow realise. Gabapentin is for nerve pain and I have heard from many that it helps, I am sure it helps me too, but I just cant tell what helps what anymore with all the meds. I did take Lyrica for a while, but then started to have a reaction, face swelling and burning. not fun! So I went back to gabapentin. I also have pain meds that I take when I need something to take the edge off, but it just takes the edge off. You can also try Lidocane patches. They help a little with surface pain. Lastly you can ask your doctor about trying a Tens Unit. It sends a pulse through the area and helps when wearing it, but not so much once you take off, or at least that's what I have found. I hope this helps you a bit and you find some relief!! I'd avoid PT or at least if you do try it avoid the massage part, that's when my Itercostal Neuralgia( IN) really took a turn for the worse! =(  Take it easy everyone, feel free to comment or ask me questions as I have been suffering for almost 5 years now!!!  ~Stacey

Don't forget to spread the word about IN!! Did you know May is Neuropathy Awareness Month, Lets make people aware. I will be announcing a give away soon for a blue ribbon necklace, join my blog for your chance!!

  1. I have a new pain doctor now that went to a seminar and he said that they talked about Intercostal Neuralgia, I guess they said Botox helps it. Finally doctors are talking about ways to make us all better. Bad thing is that it is really expensive, insurance doesn't cover it cause it is not FDA approved for our condition, and it only lasts 3 months. He has some other ideas for injections that I haven't tried yet. If I do find anything that works, trust me you guys will be the first to know!!!!!
